This giant Gothic cathedral, which until its completion in 1880 had been under construction for over 500 years, is perhaps Germany's most famous religious structure and includes two huge towers that serve as the defining symbol of Cologne's skyline.

I adore the Dom with its detailed architecture. Beautiful both during the day and at night. Really interesting exhibition showing how everything around the Dom was obliterated in WWII.

The Cologne Dom is rightly famous as a monumentally large, and interesting, cathedral - once purporting to be the tallest man-made structure on the planet. Oddly the locals seem almost proud that it lay incomplete for 500 years until the Prussians took it upon themselves...More

Лично видел китайскую туристку, которая сначала была в соборе с чемоданом, а потом взабралась с ним на саму башню собора.

Yes there is a rail which goes to the TOP. you can pause and rest where you can witness a big bell and the view from the top. As some one mentioned it is a long slog but worth it All the best.
