I used to love going to the Tier-park when I was a kid and despatched here from the UK to stay with Oma und Die Tanten. Now-a-days I have friends here who scowl at the very thought of it. But, as Zoos go, the Krefelder Grotenburg park one must be one of the better ones. I haven’t researched the programmes... More

Nice zoo to be with the family. We spend 3 hours and enjoy a lot. I was surprise to find Goliras, as I was expecting small zoo. For sure recommended for any family near by Krefeld

Although the city of Krefeld is not big (about 230000 people)the zoo is marvellous. Especially the tropical house with the butterflies ensuite are excellent-directly besides the new penguin pool. Also the "ape-house" is much more than you can expect in a small city. It's always a good time to visit this also for families.

It is a really well organized zoo. Especially familys will enjoy it because it's quite wide ranged so you'll find several places to stop for a break or pick-nick

Although the zoo is a bit small for me but it has it's own charm. The butterfly house is simply beautiful and also the peguin enclosure. But what i think the most beautiful is the apes area. The price is also not too expensive and i got it free because of the coupon from HS Niederrhein

Nice Zoo but cant keep up with bigger zoos like in cologne or Duisburg. Does not have so many feeding times but its definitely worth going there for 2 or 3 hours and take a walk there with ur gf or bf

The zoo is easily accessible and relatively big. There aren't that many species, but everything is well maintained. There was some building going on during teh visit, and new species were announced. The problem of this zoo is that some of the animals didn't act like they were happy (compulsive and repetitive movements, walking the same route over and over).... More

Krefeld Zoological Garden is a splendid example for a neatly shaped zoo, with a nice choice of animals and some highlights, attracting also parents, grand-parents and grown-ups. Neatly shaped: all animals are within a good distance and can easily reached by feet, even if the children (or the grand-parents) are not in the mood of walking... Choice of animals: in... More

A wonderful zoo. We really loved the fact that you can get so close to the animals. Pity some of the enclosures were a little small for the animals. There was a lovely butterfly enclosure which was unusual. Parking was a little difficult to find as the carpark was full.
