The Historical City Hall of Münster was one of the theatres of the negotiations of the Peace of Westphalia which concluded the Thirty Years' War in Europe and the Eighty Years' War between Spain and the Republic of the Seven United Netherlands. It was the site of the Peace of Münster of 1648. It is One of my favourites places... More

One of my favorites places in Münster, if not, my favorite. It's a must all seasons long. I was lucky enough to be there already 3 times and I never get tired of it. It's amazing how it differs from winter to summer, but it is definitely recommended to visit anytime. One of the things I like most about the... More

You can tell it's history by the look. It stands out from the surrounding buildings. The pollution over the years has added a black colouring which makes it even more outstanding. Caution watch out for cyclists as there are many cycling paths. Don't stand in one to take a picture.

Don't miss this city if you are close by around Christmas! It is a very beautiful city all year round but in Christmas it becomes exceptional.. you live your fairytale in this Christmas decoration! Don't miss a walk around when it gets dark and lights are on!

If you want to get a taste of history that took many years of skilled work to restore from what is probably a five minute air attack that destroyed a part of history pay this place a short but we'll worth visit. The biulding which was the site of the first place treaty through diplomatic initiative rather than war. Ironically... More

The historical core of Münster on the Prinzipalmarkt with the Rathaus and the adjacent old houses as well as the Lambertikirche are a must for any visit to Münster. In the warm summer and fall months, a number of restaurants offer outside seating which lets you really soak in the ambience while sipping on a glass of wine or enjoy... More

In Münster the town hall is actually the "historical town hall" - day-to-day city business is actually conducted in a number of nearby modern buildings, but the historical town hall is used for ceremonial occasions and concerts, and the . While the original building (considered one of the best examples of late Gothic secular architecture) was destroyed in the Second... More

The town hall was all but demolished by the allies in WW2 but the building was reconstructed in the 1950s with precision to original detail. The furnishings in the Council Chamber (cost of 2 euros to enter) were removed prior to the war and so preserved and subsequently reinstalled. There is a fairly comprehensive information booklet provided upon entry which... More
