I first went on this bahn when I was six years old, then I took my young son back in 1994. Now the time was right to revisit to rekindle good times. The prices were OK and apart from the weather... When this was built it was considered to be quite magnificent and I do know somebody who wants came all the way from Vienna just to see the monorail. For me it wasn't exactly jawdropping but good fun nonetheless

I was mesmerised to see the suspended train both as an engineer and as a visitor. Great combination of technology, space optimisation and view all in one.

This is a neat way to spend an afternoon in Wuppertal. It's a pretty unique experience. My recommendation is get a day pass - I think it was €10 for two persons. Board at the beginning of the track (Vohwinkel) and ride all the way to the end (Oberbarmen). On the return journey, stop at the Hbf stop and explore... More

While visiting family in Wuppertal they suggested we ride on the Suspension Railway. I was hesitant. It's very old, but I was assured it was well maintained and had been in use for many, many years. The Suspension Railway is similar in use to the "EL" in Chicago except it hangs from the rails. Well, my aunt and uncle were... More

This unique form od public transport is built over the river on a tripod system to hang the train above the river. While this might seem contra-intuitive, it did save the life of an elephant once!

Fantastic technology. Unique in the world. The balancing of Schwabebahn is the heartbeat of the city.

A unique experience, like a suspended swinging streetcar. I suggest to take it in a snowy day. Magical.
