Rome's biggest temple was the Isis one and yet nothing is left of it and hardly any statues. so this has to be of interest. Also staff here are very friendly and happy to explain exhibits. .

Popped in for a quick free tour whilst visiting Mainz. Was situated in a nice shopping centre and was given a free English guide to help us walk around. Only took 20 minutes but was very informative.

Atmospheric excavation of a Roman temple entered from a shop unit in a shopping centre. One is taken to a distant world of long ago. The figs as offerings, and the other treasures offered to the gods are very touching

We had an excellent overview from a docent before descending into the excavated site beneath a shopping mall. Explanatory guide in English is available. Very well curated exhibition. It led nicely into other Roman sites in town, particularly the exceptional museum on ancient shipbuilding.

This roman temple has been excavated while they build a shopping mall around 2002. One can visit this nicely whith roman artefacts equippet room under the very busy mall for free.

This is quite the surprise, having an old Roman ruin right underneath what is now a very ordinary-looking shopping arcade. The foundations are well displayed and the well looked after. However, I cannot recommend it for an English speaker. 100% of the signage is in...More

It's well done but there isn't all that much to see. Layout of the temple is nicely viewed from above. The best item is a statuette of a dwarf, I think. The interpretations in the text are well made and interesting. Probably only 10-20 minutes'...More

Located underneath a shopping centre it's quite easy to miss (enter through a small shop at one of the entrances) but well worth a visit. Like most attractions in Mainz, it's free but won't take you long to walk around. Depending on the type of...More

The museum (in a shopping centre) consists of just one very large underground room containing remains of the (originally far more extensive) Isis and Mater Magna temple, surrounded by exhibits excavated from the site. It's a fascinating collection and excellently set out, with explanatory notes...More
