I'm no fan of Marx. So it's difficult to admit, but in all fairness, he can't be held responsible for the sins of those who later put his ideas into practice. This museum gives a personal perspective on the life of the man who gave...More

The whole experience was so much needed but one impression overcomes all the others. What a man He was? A wealthy and well-situated boy/man was able to recognise and to sympathize with so many who hadn't have such luck!!! So much awe from my part.

Karl Marx’s 1818 birth house in Trier, a city in the south-western part of Germany, has been converted into an informative, interesting, well-kept museum and souvenir shop. With essentially over 90% of the signage being in German, most of us would not gain the same...More

While touring Trier on the HOHO bus , we passed in front of the Karl Marx House and decided to come back to have a closer look . Inside there is a documentary room , not really a museum , where one can learn about...More

Unlike all the composer houses in Germany, this one has very little in the way of artifacts and displays. It's basically just wall-to-wall placards telling Marx's history. If you already know his history, you won't get anything out of visiting the house. The outside is...More

We visited it on Karl Marx's birthday, so admission was free (and we got a free cupcake too!) Went in with an open mind to learn about the man and his social-political philosophy. He was very smart and well educated, but not a hard worker...More
