Beautiful scenery, mixed with charming German towns such as Pirna, Stadt Whelen and Rathen make this,a great destination. We did it as a day trip via public transportation from Dresden. Well connected. Really enjoyed our lunch in Rathen after hiking around Bastei.

We loved this park and the cool little hiking trail was mostly paved making it easier for our younger kids to negotiate. We've been back twice and we enjoy it every time.

This is a great outdoor activity. There are several trails to hike. I recommend a walk to the bridge. Optionally you can follow the trail down to the river. The stairs and walkways are easy to walk on with railings.

The Park itself is free of charge. There is a view point with the best view on Bastei Bridge. If you wanna go there you have to pay 2 euro.

I was there in October this year and it was cold even then, because ur in the midst of trees, rocks and nature. I suggest you be prepared for the coldest you can - with winter hiking gear like down jackets, etc.
