Great museum about the German naval fleet of the great war, mostly about World War 1. Lots of ships models, artwork and posters and other artifacts. Free entrance, free tours, lockers available, Restaurant nextdoors. Perfect for when the weather lets you down a bit.

In addition to the exhibits in the hall, there are a few historic ships tied up alongside the pier. It is very near the centre of the city and offers views of the nearby docked ferries, cruise ships and shipyards.

Our cruise ship called at Kiel on our way home, there wasn't much to do or see but we found this small maritime museum on the water front which also has a couple of small boats to visit.
