A nice town, love the architecture. Much to see with lots of alleyways to venture down. Most of it closed on a Sunday except the restaurants and marzipan shops which are great.

The Lubeck centre is very impressive I expected an old city but it turned out to be very lively with and still functioning.

A charming town not overrun with tourists. A town to easily wander around in Full of great history. Recommend booking a walking tour to get the most out of it. Be sure to go to Buddenbrook House, where Thomas Mann was born. Great, required guides....More

The Altstadt's pedestrian zone slopes gently down and has a fairly standard fare of shops lining the way. The historic buildings are lovely.

Lubeck Altstadt is a must visit on any trip to Hamburg or Berlin. Transport is very easy and the town is charming, welcoming and colorful.

Very nice old town in typical German architecture style. You can feel the history and heritage not the urban atmosphere there.

Over the course of a couple days we walked through much of the lovely old town of Lubeck. Some of the structures are reminiscent of Flemish architecture. Among several things that impressed me about old town was that often information regarding some of the buildings...More

Remains as a reminder of the once incredibly powerful Hanseatic League, as a founding city, where the most important buildings were built around the market square. It is kind of all there, but you have to look through all the rubbish of architecture and structures...More

I have visited Lübeck several times, primarily for the Christmas markets, but finds the city intriguing and very enjoyable. The town is not bigger than most things can be experienced on the go (and I'm normally not super active), and the possibility of sailing around...More

Totally walkable. Turn left, keep going and you will see the bridge and the two tubby towers. Pick up a map at the information centre on the right before the towers.

Hi, Yes, the streets are walkable using a walker with wheels. There may be areas of cobble stones but there are more smooth streets than not. It is a great city to visit and check out the marzipan store to look at all the... More
