This has been the church of seafarers since the middle ages. Granted it is another great, huge, tall, well built, brick monument to God in Lubeck, and was the only church not to suffer any damage in WWII, but it did not lighten my spirit...More

This church was very interesting and is worth visiting. It includes a wrecked boat as a tribute to the sailors who died and has a baroque altar.

We took in an organ vesper here. It was an enjoyable retreat for a Saturday evening. The baroque interior is fascinating, especially the asymmetrical decorations on the main altar.

More splendid red-brick Gothic from around 1300. A touching tribute to lost seamen of the Pamir in a side chapel. Two organs! One from the 15c. Impressive altars, paintings, and sculptures. But the feature that surprised me was the series of painted panels--several dozen, maybe...More

It is so rare that you can find a splendid decoration inside a protestant church. But St. Jakobi is the most beautiful exception!!! Just fantastic frescoes, organ and altar!

Not as impressive as some of the other churches in Lubeck but try and come for an organ concert in the late afternoon/early evening (mostly free).

This is a very impressive memorial for the lost P-Liner sailing ship Pamir. It was lost in a storm and only 6 persons have survived. The Pamir was a sailing ship used to train german merchants fleet cadets. One wonders, why such a memorial in...More

A very nice church with an impressive organ. The corner for sailors lost at sea are a very touching place and a wonderful place for reflection. Besides this, there are some very nice wood works all over the place so do visit! Donation suggested. No...More

One of my favorite churches in Lubeck, not so stately as others in town, but more carefully decorated inside and with a more intimate atmosphere. The inlaid pews are really noteworthy, and the massive decorated organ is also a masterpiece of art.
