The main reasons for visiting this church is to see the crypt and the Lady Chapel. Both are currently closed for repairs. The church itself is fairly small but nicely decorated. The history is important. Ferdinand and Isabel camped here during the reconquest of Malaga.

We were staying nearby and visited on the way in to town. Peaceful and serene, but with some fairly graphic Catholic imagery... interesting nonetheless.

This is probably the second most important church after the Cathedral. It is just beautiful and worth the visit (you could visit first Pablo Picasso's home and go walking from there)-

From the conversation we had with Michael the guide it sounded pretty imminent so it may unfortunately be closed when you are there in December.

I think they are only closing part of the tower, the magnificent crypt and the museum will still be open. Definitely worth a visit.
