We were taken here as part of our walking tour from the Tourist Information shop at the bottom of Marquis de Larios. We would have walked past it, as it looks like nothing from the outside, very ornate inside, with our guide giving some background.

We chose to visit this having just been to the Museo Carmen Thyssen as it is just a few metres away. It was very peaceful with very few other “tourists”, the remaining visitors being local people making religious observation. The decoration is interesting and some of the side chapels are amazing, in particular the one containing a life-size naturalistic sculptural... More

The Church of Los Martires is one of the most beautiful churches in Malaga and is one of the best churches to visit. The church has plenty of images of Christ and the Virgin Mary, some of them real works of art.

We have visited over 200 cathedrals and churches throughout Europe. This cathedral is small in a quiet plaza somewhat away from the touristy section of town. The outside the church is not impressive but the inside is nicely decorated. The walls and ceiling are white so the artwork shows off quite nicely. The decoration is peaceful and welcoming unlike some... More

Iglesia de Los Martires is one of the four churches erected in Malaga by the Catholic Monarchs on the reconquest in 1487. It is dedicated to the two patron saints of Malaga Ciriaco and Paula who were martyred in 303 AD by the Romans when they refused to renounce their Christian faith. They were stoned to death whilst tied to... More

Smaller than the big cathedral, and harder to find, this church, tucked away in a small plaza, is quiet and somber. Painted uniformly white and gold (unlike the mishmash of styles of the cathedral), it is a soothing place to stop and reflect.

As all churches this one has also beautiful architecture. Visiting is possible and free of charge. Always cool inside, handy with the Spanish weather :).
