Some of the shops on Soriano - especially the Jewellery shops and the better Shoe and Clothing stores are great to visit.

Some of the street - probably like most streets in most towns are a bit "Tatty" and since the Recession many shops are closed.

There is , however, plenty of Municipal off street Parking which makes shopping more "User friendly" than some places

For a very busy street, however, there are very few "Good" restaurants only cheap and nasty "Internet Cafes" and bars - one has to go to Orange Square or the Old Town for Good Eating on Marbella.

One of the best features is the avenue leading down from the Main Underground Car Park to the Promenade is the "Salvador Dali" Sculpture Park.

I have walked down there many many times but Always I find something New to see in his wonderful and quirky works of art

This is the main avenue which goes right through Marbella. Many of its shops are closed because of the recession but there are many intriguing side streets which lead down towards the sea and contain lots of surprises - small boutiques, cafes and restaurants.

This is the main street of Marbella - it used to be the main road, the only road, before the N340 (later re-named as the A7) came into being. So it is a wide street, dual carriageway, with attractive planting in the middle.

Some stretches have orange trees (the scent of the orange flowers in March/April is intoxicating), others have purple-flowering jacarandas, and palm trees abound, of course.

However, these central plantings mean that you can only cross where there are crossings, with lights. Anywhere else you have to climb through the shrubs! Watch out even on the pedestrian crossings - cars come along pretty fast and don't all always stop . . .

So the street looks good with the attractive greenery, but it is a hazard to cross. This is why there has been a proposal to pedestrianise most of it; the problem is, of course, that it is a thoroughfare, and there is no obvious alternative for the cars, buses and lorries that roar along it every day.

As for the shops, they too are good in parts. There are some interesting - and pricey - shops, a large branch of Zara, Ralph Lauren, etc. But there are also empty shops, shops with big To Rent or For Sale stickers all over them, which obviously detracts from the overall appearance of the street.

The best bits are, in fact, the bits off the street. In particular the Alameda, a delightful typically Spanish park with a very interesting fountain.

Sixty empty shops. Sixty.

Sixty shops saying "Se vende" or "Se aquila" as they try to get businesses to either buy or rent the premises.

It makes for a pretty depressing picture along what used to be Marbella's commercial hub but is no longer. In fact at one time this actually had the Marbella Bus Station, as well as loads of shops of all kinds.

The bus station moved yonks ago, and bit by bit the shops moved too (or closed down), going to the La Canada shopping centre, or for the posher ones to Puerto Banus.

Ricardo Soriano is a shadow of its former self. Yes, still lovely to smell the orange blossom through the diesel fumes in springtime. Still has nice Christmas lights. But the best bits are where you go from Ricardo Soriano - to Orange Square, or the Alameda Park, or even to Goyo cake shop. Check the reviews for that.

But a real thumbs down for the Avenida Ricardo Soriano itself.

This really is a main road leading through Marbella but populated by trees and shrubs to improve its attractiveness. Lots of shops on both sides of the road and easy access to the beach walkways and indeed Orange Square.. What more would you want !!

The main street of Marbella is stunning in the Spring. The street and the park are bright with flowers and the Jacaranda trees are amazing. The reconstruction work over the years have paid off leaving the street a must for visitors and locals alike.

This is the main street in Marbella. It's dated in every way - buildings are mixed and many very poor . Shops open & close ( only real decent ones are Zara & Mango ) . Move away and go to sea front which is nice.

Avenida Ricardo Soriano is one of the main streets of Marbella and has many good shops which include shops that sell shoes, clothing, and jewelry. It is also close to the Plaza de los Naranjos, which also has many stores and restaurants nearby.
