How did we do it, I still don’t know, but when we were searching for a meeting point, somehow we got on this pass. Following it we were more and more suspicious, that we’re on the wrong way, but it was an enjoyable walk, so we just kept going, mainly because we already missed our time. At least enjoy the lavish surroundings, the little brook running next to us, and the excitement of explorers, who doesn’t know yet where the road is taking us- we thought. Mostly the walls of the Alhambra was fencing this road, and times to time small surprises appeared in front of us. Once a little waterfall, other times a tree with an engrossing, twisting root or a wonderfully shaped and colored leaf got our full attention. After going downhill on a cobblestone road, that wasn’t too pleasant since I was wearing a comfortable, but not a hiking shoes, we arrived back to the city, from where we were just started. It was a possibility to catch the Hop on hop off the bus again, but instead of it we decided, just turn, and follow our footsteps in the opposite direction. In the end, we were happy to find this enchanting walkway that obviously wasn’t wild spread known since hardly anyone was using it instead of us. Probably if more people would hear about it, they would use it to get up into the Alhambra on a delightful and healthy way.

What an incredible find! We thought this was a foot trail and were advised to come down (not up) due to steepness. It’s a beautiful quiet less travelled trail to Alhambra and such a delight to walk. Highly recommend. It’s steep but take your time, rest and enjoy the beauty.

Very pleasant walk from Paseo de los Tristes up towards the Alhambra Access pavilion walking along a path surrounded by trees and partly next to a stream below the Alhambra walls. Quite steep going up. There are people up and down most of the time so nothing too 'lonely' and it is definitely the most attractive way to reach or return from the Alhambra.

This is a gorgeous winding downhill (mostly) dirt and cobblestone path from the Alhambra main entrance to Carrera del Darro and eventually back to Plaza Nueva. It is a quiet and cool meander with running water and small water falls along the way. There are a lot of cobblestones so take care. Lovely views of the Alhambra and Generalife from below. Discovered it through Rick Steves Spain 2018 book.

The Cuesta del Ray Chico is the entrance leading up to the Alhambra. It is cobblestone all the way up. Beautiful gardens and streams.

Walking between Generalife and main Palace area you’ll cross a bridge over the path which was probably part of a moat back in the day. It leads from town up to the entrance area and doesn’t look too steep to me (but then again I didn’t undertake the walk as we drove). As you walk round the walls and look down you hear the rush of water which flows under the cobbles.
