Great view

Steep climb, but not to long, to rewarding view of Oviedo and large part of central Asturias. Enjoy.

Me and my grandfather decided to walk up to Monte Naranco as we'd heard that there was excellent views of Asturias. We'd already visited the cathedral, so thought this would be a good thing to do for a day. On the way up we realised that we were passing the Santa Maria Del Naranco and the San Miguel Del Lillo,... We rode the motorbike to the top where there is a small car park. The road only has a couple of tight corners. Hardly any traffic. The views from the top are spectacular. Worth the trip.

If you visit the preromanico sites and the weather is fine, you can drive up to the top of Monte Naranco from where you can really enjoy a full panorama of Oviedo and surrounding area including the Picos de Europa. You can head for the big staue of Jesus, then you will be three.

I finally hiked up Naranco this past Saturday to El Cristo. The hike was short, it has a bit of a steep incline in some spots, but overall a nice Saturday morning challenge. The views of Oviedo at the top are great! You can see the whole city and the statue of Christ is impressionable. There are two picnic tables... More

When you see the 9th century Pre-Romanesque churches of San Miguel de Lillo and Santa Maria del Naranco, you are on the Monte Naranco. You can get good views of the city of Oviedo and the countryside from there.

Take the bus to Monumentos and hike all the way up, past the church ruins—so worth it! On a clear day, you'll get some of the best views of Asturias and Cantabria; you can see all the way to Gijón and the coast!

I thought it was unlucky of me that i visited it in a cloudy day but when you are up the top, you feel like you are above everything! It felt like magic! Totally recommended if you have time.
