Where you can find lots of places to eat pintxos and drink local spirits! The casco viejo should be better maintained and the shopping area should improve a little bit, but in the overall, is a nice and beautiful place to visit.

San Sebastian-Donostia, Vitoria-Gasteiz or Pamplona-Iruña have their old side of town (Casco viejo, parte vieja...) and all three of them are way more clean, neat and interesting than Bilbao’s. They do have better restaurants, better squares, streets, plazas, etc. Bilbao’s Casco Viejo has not much...More

Casco Viejo is exactly as guide books describe it. Narrow streets cause stunning views to appear as you turn a corner. Lots of shops and cafes to suit all tastes. The buildings are interesting to look at and the cathedral amazing. Well worth a meander....More

Casco Viejo is a nice old part of Bilbao which i enjoyed having a walk around. There are plenty of bars and restaurants and shops and a pleasant atmosphere. Also nice to see lots of historical buildings and the cathedral.

It's a very pleasant walk from the Guggenheim, the centre of the universe in Bilbao, along the river to the old town (casco antiguo). That said, the old town didn't seem to be fantastically old but nevertheless well worth a wander along the narrow streets...More

Sorry I cannot be of any help. I was looking at the sights and enjoying the food, so didn't notice any hair salons of which I am sure there are many. Good luck.
