Housed in an old Jesuit cloister in the Casco Viejo, this museum thoroughly documents the history of the Basque people. Worth a visit to see something about the history, culture, people and language of the Basque Country. Set in a 17th century building to boot. Small admission charge and guides available but not really needed.

It is a pity that most visitors spend only 1 day and miss this museum in Bilbao. Please try to visit it for learning the cultural roots and history of the Basque people. It is astonishing.

Basque culture is strong, and this pretty little museum gives a great overview of the history behind that culture. The displays are in Basque or Spanish but they are reasonably self explanatory if you know a bit of Spanish.
