Not as WOW as the Guggenheim , but sometimes a good exhibition and a different art lovers collection too

If you visit either museum go first thing in the morning when they open, as they get very busy with tourists and school parties!

This museum is well worth a visit. Its a large museum and lots of really great art and temporary exhibitions. Although the building is less spectacular, the art is every bit (or better) than the Guggenheim.

I was expecting to be really surprised by their art collections. But the displays were not as many as I wished. The curation was unusual . Was delighted to see Sorollo's work which stood out from miles. The building is modern and beautiful.

An interesting insight into Japanese art and culture, also its influence on western art. Worth visiting. Not too large an exhibition to feel overloaded with information and art but just enough to whet your curiosity and find out more.

My wife and I visited here immediately after visiting the Guggenheim. While the architecture of the building is not as interesting as the Guggenheim, we found the contents to be far more interesting and spent more time here to our surprise. There was a wide range of Spanish art. We particularly enjoyed the modern art section. We bought a joint... More

The Fine Arts Museums a far better visitor experience than the more well known Guggenheim museum. Its information system is super, with texts available in English, Spanish and Basque at critical points and an audio system for many of the exhibits. During my visit there was an interesting Japanese temporary exhibition and the main exhibitions are very good with a... More

It's plain and simple a little gem of a museum overshadowed by the magnificent Guggenheim. But it has much to recommend it. The architecture is superb and the exhibits well laid out. A nice showcase for Spanish and basque art. We went on a Wednesday (free) and there was a Japanese exhibit which, while interesting, was less interesting than the... More

Agree with other positive reviewers about the quality and overall experience with this lovely museum. Preferred it to the busy Guggenheim. Went on a Wednesday and was free.

First of all if your traveling on a tight budget, visit the museum on Wednesday - that day the entrance is for free. Doing so, moreover, gives you the possibility to invest one euro for the audio-guide. If your good with english (the speaker has a rather strong british accent) the audio-guide really adds to the cultural experience and the... More

The Museum is small, but has a very nice collection of Spanish and Basque painters and sculptors. They are having a "Japanism" exhibit and a modern art exhibit.. it is definitely worth the visit..
