This is a small fountain in the historic centre of Bilbao. Considered a landmark and sometime meeting point, the fountain gets its name from the taps and continues to dispense potable water. Called the fountain of dogs because there are three water outlets shaped like a dogs' head. Not an amazing thing to see, but worth a quick look if you’re in this part of Bilbao.

Just on the corner of Calle Del Perro in the old town and surrounded by bars and shops, this quaint fountain is lovely to visit. I am glad we made the effort.

This originally was a drinking fountain for animals. It's unusual carvings made it a useful reference point in the old town as the narrow streets looked similar and it was relatively easy to loose one's sense of direction

Interesting, knowing the story and history behind it but honestly it's a 20 second visit. Look, see, take a pic perhaps. Done.

Because I was there during COVID, never really used it. but overall, I saw some people use it. Just be careful with what you do.

Very picturesque public fountain in the old town. Come and see how the everyday people got their water back in the day.

Interesting sculpted old stone fountain in the middle of the old town of Bilbao surrounded by shops of all kinds and some pretty interesting places to eat and drink.

Take a comprehensive walk through the old town and you’ll come across the Fuente. It’s beautiful to look at and you can refill your water bottle or take a drink straight from the dogs mouth !

Interesting fountain in the Old Town. Not worth a detour, but worth a look. Enjoy a glass or two and then wander past.
