No culture does baroque like the Spanish and this is a prime example. Lots of deep carving, gold leaf and bloody, tortured statues. Much better than the Cathedral and worth a visit.

A large church in the old part of town, with a particularly ornate altar. Entrance is free (unlike the Basilica of Saint Mary), and in my opinion a more interesting visit. Worth popping in when you are in the area.

The church is right in the middle of the old downtown area. It is a working church with good stained glass and some lovely side chapels. A wedding had just ended as we entered. The church was free, cool, and lovely - definitely worth a...More

You gain a idea of what typical church looks like. There is an entrance porch, lovely stained glass and carved altars. There is a modern crucifix on the exterior wall of the courtyard.

A lovely church next to San Telmo plaza that has stunning rose windows and the stonework catches the light magically throughout the day.

The inside of the church feels on a more human scale than Iglesias de Santa Maria and entrance is also free. A trombone band may be marching and playing in the street outside, but you barely here. The main altar is quite ornate. And beautifully...More
