In the month of April splendid weather. Roads are good to reach VAlle Gran Rey, but rather steep. Do not forget (when you drive to Valle Gran Rey) to admire the two scenic views after the tunnel. In Valle Gran Rey you will find nature lovers (walking), sun bathers, and hippies. You need some time to travel to other places... More

We drove here from Plays Dr Santiago. Through the national park at the top of La Gomera, great fun and easy to do. The roads were quiet and the views spectacular. Valle Gran Rey is a tourist town a don't expect old world buildings, but we did manage to find some back streets and shops that are quaint. It's worth... More

We stayed in Calera a short walk from both the beach and port. A great place for a holiday. Lovely walking, nice beach, some great restaurants and a nice laid back atmosphere.

Has become a popular trendsetter place. We went into a few shops and found food and goods 3 ...4...5 times more expensive than at home! Having said that it is extremely well organised to the point of being anal if you like that sort of an approach to life.

Our apartment was in another town, about a 1/2 hour drive away on La Gomera. But we very often visited Valle Gran Rey. Safest swimming beaches on the island for children - and adults, with beautiful black sand that warms quickly. Almost always was sunny and warm, even when it was raining in other parts of the island. Good restaurants,... More

Safe swimming, apparently, which is not the case everywhere on this island. A lot of beachside place and a certain amount of infrastructure, + a lot of Germans. I stayed up at La |Caldera, but came down here ( Playa) for shopping.

The geology of this wonderful area is breathtaking. If you are up to it I would recommend doing a few walks here to truly 'get' the scale of the barrancos and the dramatic soaring peaks. Or you can chill on the beach or in one of the many reasonably-priced eateries.

Valle Gran Rey is worth a visit! Especially when staying in San Sebastian it is worth to plan a day trip. The Bus starts in the rather "dry" surrounding and goes up the hill, where the vegetation changes from colour brown to green. There is a nice National Park on the hilltop where you can do some nice walking/trekking. The... More

We took the coastal trail and walked here from San Sebastian - the hotel on the each serves only residents which seemed to be 100% german - the beach is ok but prefered the ambiance of san sebastian
