Firstly if you are visiting by car make sure tou parl legally and pay in metered areas. I saw two vehicles being towed away near the church.
Arucas is a little village inland, accessed from the north, and it has a huge church of cathedral-sized proportions. Inside you can appreciate the height and size. there are beautiful stained gl;ass windows .

The old town of Arucas is charming, with colorful wll preserved buildings and nice little restaurants and terraces - a typical Canarian town. The cathedral is impressive, contributing to the nice vibe of the town. During our trip in Gran Canaria, we chose to stay in Arucas, as it is a quiet town, close to Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, with lower prices on acommodation and food.

We visited on a day trip from Las Palmas and what a worthwhile visit it was. Arucas is a wonderful town to just walk around, very peaceful and relaxed. The church is magnificent and the botanical gardens are lovely, don;t forget your camera. It even has half decent shopping. As a bonus it has easy bus connections from San Telmo in Las Palmas. Nice scenery on the way as well. And their tourist ofice has more information on Gran Canaria than any in Las Palmas.

Arucas is a small market town in the north of Gran Canaria. It has a small museum and park in ther centre of the town and is a relaxing REAL town , away from the touristy south. The old town is well conserved and you can wander around taking in the atmosphere - well worth a visit.

A half a day spent in the town will not be a day wasted. The streets are filled with nice buidlings, a few good restaurants, cafe to have a drink orsmth to eat. The gothic church stands out from the crowd of buildings. A must see when on the island.

Apparently everything is from the late 19th century/early 20th century in a colonial style, but it is nevertheless impressive and the best casco historico of the area.

We loved to stroll around in this little village - one of the nicest of Gran Canaria, in our opinion. Unfortunately the church was closed (we were there in the afternoon), but even impressive from the outside. In the tourist information you have WLAN and a very clean toilet. You can get a plan with the sights there. What we enjoyed - it seems that it is not a city of and for tourists - it seems to be "real".
We parked in the street directly beneath the church - but it should not be a problem at all to find a parking space.
For the rum distillery we arrived too late, but did manage it on time to get to the shop - worth a visit, you can taste some of the products.

Arucas is a little village inland, accessed from the north, and it has an amazing church of cathedral-sized proportions. Those who have visited the Sagrada Familia in barcelona will notice similarities. What a hidden gem! We loved it.

We went here as part of the excellent First Minute tour. A beautiful traditional town with a lovely cathedral. Traditional Canaria streets.

Casco Histórico (old town in English) is located in the little town of Arucas, in the Gran Canaria Island. Here you can walk around the streets, visit the Prque Municipal (a park in the town), see historical buildings and especially the Cathedral, which is only a church. Also there are some bars or restaurants, where you can eat or drink something. Little town, with this beautiful historical place.
