Best beach on the island
Jan. 2020 • Couples
It is a wonderful place to spend a sunny day close to the water on the island and perfect spot for snorkelling. It does not have a lot of Sandy part rather rocks but it’s well equipped so people can access the water.

Sunny cove on SW coast of El Hierro - one of the few places to sunbathe and swim on this lonely and lovely island

Snorkelling but rough
Jan. 2017 • Friends
It was worth finding this gem as not too busy and it has an area where you can eat. The snorkelling was good but the sea was rough but even holding onto the front bits the fish were there in all their glory. It is clean and the sand is of course volcanic.

Where we swam...
Oct. 2016 • Couples
Surrounded by volcanic rocks, Cala de Tacoron with its calm waters is a must-see spot on El Hierro. Peace and quiet plus various fishes if you are into snorkelling. Had I known about it, I would not have spent so much time in the nearby La Restinga.

Beautiful natural swimming pools with spectacular views
Apr. 2016 • Couples
This is a very small natural bay in an old lava flow with a narrow opening which keeps the sea calm enough for swimming. Several swimming pool steps have been placed around the bay making it easy to get in and out of the water and several thatched huts with BBQ fireplace have been built and provided with wood so that people can cook their lunch there. Is very popular with locals and there is a great small cafe to have food.

Secluded, sheltered beach with natural rock pools and picnic areas
Mar. 2016 • Family
About 10 minutes drive from La Restinga (which does not have a very attractive beach) is the quiet and secluded little cove of El Tacoron. Picnicked at one of the many table installations. The bathing is in sheltered rock pools. Admired the wonderful sunset. There is a little bar/cafe providing drinks and basic food (sandwiches) until 6 p.m.

A fine place for swim an relax
Jan. 2016 • Couples
Unfortunately, we drove there on impulse on our way back to La Restinga, and didn't have swim suits. But the place seems to be fine for swimming. Very fine stone works (paths etc.) and ladders into the sea. Some people were swimming. Dramatic landscape. The small restaurant was closed, maybe because it was off season.

Nothing special but it depends on how desperate you are to swim
Dec. 2015 • Couples
If you do not want to swim it is hardly worth visiting Playa de Tacaron. It is incorrectly called a Playa as there is no beach just swimming from volcanic rocks, with some metal steps to get into and out of the water. One would not come to El Hierro for this Playa.

Magic place
Nov. 2015 • Solo
Take your time, stay there, feel the place - if you don't like wide beaches with sun beds and crowd - you'll like it. Nice place for snorkling and enjoying raw nature. But! Like at some other unexpected places on El Hierro (mountains, forrest) - there is a wi:fi!
