Hidden gem worth to see
Jan. 2020 • Couples
It was a last minute decision to come here and it was the right one. Being there off season and strolling though empty tiny streets was charming and creepy at the same time. The village was completely abandoned as everyone just left yesterday. Having entire village at our disposition, We spent a good couple of hours swimming in the pool, enjoying views of the raging Atlantic, and discoveing architectural miracles of the fisherman village.
The final reward of the day was a stunning sunset upon our return to the parking lot.

living history in Hierro
Nov. 2016 • Couples
It's well worth the drive out, the climb down & clamber back up the well maintained path to walk through a piece of living history. This seems to be the way all Herrenos lived way back. Except now there are the giveaway signs of water supply & power lines of course. But the houses themselves, huddled together in this secret, forgotten fold in the cliffs, battered by the storm waves (I imagine) are a throwback to a mediaeval time of making a living from the sea. We only visited briefly, but the Pozo of the title is the man made pool which holds back the sea water and provides a safe & pleasant spot for swimming.

It was quiet and colorless

If you are fit you can walk the hundreds steps to the bay and not to forget up again, if you are not stay on the top and just look and visit the 3 shops and 2 restaurants. This is a part of the island that is just rocky - and windy, like the northern parts of all the Canary Islands. On another hand - it shows the contrasts of the islands, incl el Hierro. To experience that - you must go there.
