We visited this area recently, and the area and scenery were stunning ,we did the shorter circular hike from the Cumbrecita viewpoint, but the views were amazing. Just something to note is that if you want to drive up to this viewpoint, you need to book a car park space in advance as it is limited to something like 20 cars per time slot and you might need to book 2 or 3 days before you plan to visit. It's well worth doing, though, if you have the time

The narrow windy road to the top is scary but our coach driver has nerves of steel backing up the mountain to let another cosch pass. Beautiful canary pines and tantalising views into the caldera. Worth the visit

This is a spectacular walk. We took a taxi to the Caldera de Taburiente car park from Los Llanos (E15) from there were shared a taxi with another couple to Los Brecitos (E51 split 2 ways, so E25.50 each couple). When we arrived in the car park there were three other couples waiting for onward taxis and the taxis seemed to be fairly frequent. The other option is to take a taxi from Los Llanos all the way to Los Brecitos which we were told was about E50 but not all taxi drivers want to do the full journey so do check with them first. The reason why some taxi drivers don't want to take you to Los Brecitos is because the road leading up to it is narrow and winds up the mountain for about 30 mins. At the top you are straight onto a flat trail (as the taxi did the climb) with spectacular views from the start. About half way through the walk you arrive at the park information lodge which has toilets. From here you head downwards to reach a point where you can choose a short detour to the Cascada de Colores. We did the detour and you follow a river bank which was almost completely dry to the cascades that were a dribble, so very disappointing. From there you follow a lot of river beds to the end at the Las Vinas car park. We were lucky enough to cadge a lift from someone to take us back to Los Llanos but we did have a phone number for a taxi firm just in case. You can walk back to Los Llanos from here but its a lot of road walking and adds on at least another 1.5 hours of walking. I would recommend mapping this on your GPX as sometimes, especially in the river beds it can be hard to find the trail. We also had good instructions from our travel company but there were lots of people undertaking the route which was a good sign. Finally, it is always best to check that the route is open, the day before it was closed due to bad weather and it took a while the next day for the park authorities to confirm it was open again.
