We had Andres, who spoke very good English and gave us an interesting look inside some of the finest old houses, which we would never have done on our own. Ours started at 11.00am but there may be others.Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten November 3, 2023
- ala101Helsinki, Finland77 contributionsNice half day trip from Puerto de la CruzThe old town of San Cristobal la Laguna is nice to walk around, and has many shops, cafes and restaurants. However it didn’t blow our minds in any way, it was just nice. The best experience was to have a coffee in the cafeteria next to the catedral. Still, would recommend for a half a day trip.Visited January 2024Travelled with familyWritten January 3, 2024
- Anthony SBrisbane, Australia1,862 contributionsFabulous place to wanderThe old capital of Tenerife is a fabulous place to wander and absorb the ambiance of the place. Some of the buildings are more than 400 years old and some are open to the public so you can see the internal courtyards. It wasn’t crowded when we were there in June and the streets and alleys were spotlessly clean.Visited June 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten June 13, 2024

This beautiful town centre is well worth a visit. The mansions are beautiful, pop your head in any open doors and see the leafy courtyards. It’s a feast for the eyes and there are more than enough cafes and bars to enjoy a feast for the tummy too. It’s cooler than on the coast in winter so wrap up a little warmer. The free and street parking was totally full on a Friday lunchtime, but we parked no problem in the ‘central’ car park.

This is a beautiful area to stroll and enjoy the sights and sounds of the town. There are historic buildings, musicians playing, many places to eat, souvenir shops to enjoy. Something for everyone here.

This is a beautiful portion of the city and well worth a 1/2 day or so visit. The buildings are all highly unusual, beautiful and in great condition. The streets are pedestrianised too mainly, which makes getting around very safe. Some nice restaurants, bars and cafes too.

Walking through the streets and alleys of the city you can admire churches, picturesque buildings and very beautiful and interesting gardens. I also really like the tranquility without the chaos of other areas of Tenerife. Convenient public transport departs from Santa Cruz either by bus or surface metro.

Nice excursion, we took a bus from Los Crtianos and then continued by bus from the bus square in Santa Cruz. On the way back we took the tram which was awesome. The town was cozy and we went up the clock tower. It was probably 10 degrees colder than on the south island, so bring a thick sweater. Cozy cafes and restaurants.

We took the free guided tour through the San Cristóbal de La Laguna town hall.
It lasts 1 hour and is very enjoyable and interesting.
Apart from the information they give you, they also advise you so that you can continue visiting the city on your own.
Highly recommended.

A beautiful old town with many sights, a market hall, great patisseries and tascas. It is also worth taking a look at the small alleys, courtyards and shortcuts.
You can get there quickly and cheaply using public transport (titsa), from the bus station to the end stadium (1 stop?) by tram. From there it is a stone's throw to the old town.
What I found a shame was that quite a lot of the sights were closed during the siesta (1 p.m. - 5 p.m.).

Hi,
Wanted to know where is the best place to find parking if we were to visit La Laguna and how much might it cost approx?
We will definitely be driving rather than using public transport as we have 2 children under 3 years old so it would easier for us.
Thanks

It's better to park in Santa Cruz de Tenerife and to go to La Laguna by tramway: it's comfortable and amazing for the children.

O course they have little supermarkets.

Do you know if these tours are offered on Sunday's?
Written October 28, 2015
Our cruise ship stop was on a Sunday and we took a shore excursion. We saw other tours from different operators at some of our stops.
