Inside smells musty, the glass panel floor is fogged up is in the cloister area. Some serious attention is needed here to improve venterlation simce the inside is small hence not allowing for poor circulation of fresh air.

Very old, well preserved and situated right next to the Bahia of Santander, it is worth the visit. The main cathedral is impressive with a high ceiling, arches and an amazing pipe organ. Underneath is a vaulty church, where we attended mass on Sunday. Open...More

Although not the most interesting cathedral we've ever visited, we thought it was worth an hour to have a look around. We enjoyed learning about the 1941 fire and the history of the building. Sadly, we discovered that much that might be of interest today...More

Worth a visit in Santander, Be sure and not miss the basilica on the lower part, very interesting. small charge to visit everything. Doesn't take much time, small amount of attractions compared to other cathedrals in Spain.

This cathedral actually closes for lunch - and a long lunch at that. 1.00pm to 4.30pm!! We arrived at about five minutes to 1.00pm to find the cathedral staff actually pushing people out of the building so that they could go to lunch. Appalling!

It's the basilica below the cathedral which is most interesting. Unfortunately there was nothing written in English and our Spanish is best described as laughable so we didn't get the most out of our visit.

We only managed to visit the lower chapel which is a quiet and reflective space - a calming moment of escape from the business of Santander. Photographs are allowed, but no flash.

A truly wonderful and beautiful Cathedral. Amazing inside and if only the walls could tell a story. \the fire in the early 40s was a disaster for the city and it is mainly the walls that survived but the old and the new inside I...More
