This is the oldest synagogue building in Europe. I say oldest "building," since, it is no longer a synagogue. It is now owned and maintained as a historic site by the Catholic diocese of Toledo. Built in the 1100s this relatively small, bright building is adorned with a single Star or of David. It is simply beautiful. Since I was... More

We strolled past this synagogue from the outside but didn't walk inside since we heard it isn't worth the steep admission (we visited Sinagoga El Transito which was lovely).

The Synagogue is a wonderful building. On saturday, the entrance is for free. We saw it for free, but I would not pay for it. There is one room you can see and an additional museum.

Synagogue was built by Muslims for the Jews and has a Muslim flair. There is only one Jewish star in the synagogue. It is a historical site and not being used today.

At first sihght it looks like it is just a forest of columns. But as you walk crossing the space among the archs, you can admire the balance and the clear-headnedness that the place inspires.

It is not very big, but it is still worth a visit to look at the interior of the building with all its arches and roof

Beautiful former Synagogue now owned by the church. Under restoration, with beautiful architectural features. We were luck enough to be there for one of only 3 annual celebrations open to the public! After a moving performance of chanting and song from priests and nuns, we were all included in a rousing dance around the perimeter of the nave and treated... More

So beautiful and an easy must see in Toledo. It's cheap to get in and while not very large it's very pretty. Great for photos and won't take too long to look around!

Jewish synagogue designed by a muslim and sponsored by a christian. A good place to see that all these religions can coexist and cooperate.
