I could not appreciate this horseshoe-shaped arch as an attraction. Perhaps it appeals more to history buffs. At least the statue of Miguel de Cervantes is more photo worthy. Like other Tripadvisors mentioned, the arch is good for photo framing of the statue.

This Moorish horseshoe-shaped arch is all that remains of the Alcazar's inner wall connecting it to the Plaza Zocodover after the 1936 bombings. Above this arch is supposed to be a chapel called the Chapel of the Blood of Christ. Legend has it that it...More

I never realized this was a "thing to do." It is the arch you walk through from the Plaza Zocodover to head toward the statue of Cervantes and the Alcazar. It is in my photos only as a frame for things beyond it.

This is one of many Moorish arches you can see around the city and not a great example either, but at least it frames the statue of Cervantes making for good photo shoots.

Beautiful, massive, Moorish, horseshoe arch was the original doorway through Todeldo's city walls, connecting town to the Alcazar. Also known as Puerta de la Sangre of Zocodover, located off Plaza de Zocodover, this is the ideal photo opportunity.

Part of the block of buildings on one side of Plaza Zocodover. It is a Moorish arch that forms a gate, and it is a few steps from the Cervantes statue.

Located to one side of Zocodover Plaza, this arch leads to some steps down to a statue of the author of Don Quizote (who also wrote other novels …). Compared to the other arches in Toledo, this one has nothing much to recommend it.

This is just a gate, off the Plaza Mayor to the Cervantes street, and not one of the better arches or gates in town.

El Arco de la Sangre is just before the entrance to the Plaza de Zocodover and was the main gate to the city of Toledo during the Moor's occupation - thus the Mudéjar architecture curved arch look. Worth a quick visit if you are near...More

When viewed from the plaza side the arch is quite noticeable. A closer look and you will find a great bronze statue of Cervantes at the bottom of the stairs. Good photo op here.
