If you are walking the Camino de Santiago, this is one of the key meeting places to find lost pilgrims.

Pleasant enough square with busy traffic and big statue of El Cid. Easy to get to and can be final part of stroll along the river side. In the end it is a big statue on a traffic island.

It's a beautiful place of peace and tranquility in the bustling heart of Burgos. I particularly liked the river, which has a little rapid going on.

El Cid played an important part in the history of Burgos and this is demonstrated through statues and references to him in the streets around the historic old town.

Read your guide book before you start wandering around the City. There is so much to see and you head will be whipping round all the time. Very clean and lots of seats for you to sit a while and take in the sights.

Long story behind him; very well known in Spain as he was a military leader in the medieval Spain. Rodrigo Diaz de Vivar was his real name. Shame that the statue is in a roundabout in the middle of a transited road.

As others have remarked, the focal point of this square is the statue of El Cid, and as statues of knights on horseback go, this is one of the best I’ve seen. A finely crafted piece, with a clear message; there is no mistaking that this depicts a warrior on a war-horse. It is only a short walk from the... More

This looks wonderful on a postcard but it's hard to get up close since it's in the middle of traffic. Still, a nice addition to the city.

You may not need to wander too far off track to see this interesting but rather unmemorable historic statue of El Cid who seemed to change sides more often than the weather did when we were in Burgos.
