This is spectacular, no wonder it is a world heritage sight. Don't wait for the free entry at 4.30 as it gets very busy, for a pensioner it is only 6 euros instead of 8 so well worth it.

The Cathedral is well worth a visit, it is one of the best we have been to in Spain, they have an audio guide and the place is very well preserved and maintained.

We visited on the morning of Palm Sunday and used the audio guide. So boring!! Religion and museums can be more exciting than these voices made out. I found it strange that the burial place of El CID, Spain's great hero, is hardly referred to and you walk over his tomb without realising he's there. A must see, but ...

One guide book described this as the finest cathedral in Spain and it may well be. Burgos may not be a top tourist destination, but it has a very pleasant and pedestrian friendly old town and is well worth an overnight stay to see the cathedral

We stayed in Burgos on the way back from Portugal with our dog. The weather was cold so we had to leave our dog in the hotel to have breakfast in a nearby cafe, so we took the opportunity to visit a building which does not allow animals, as you would expect. The charge for entry was modest for the... More

Come to Burgos if you can, and if you do, this is the main reason. Hard to describe "awe" but size, beauty, history, and if you're lucky, music will fill you and stay with you. Walk carefully around both outside and inside. Look up because the ceilings are unique and differ from one chapel to the next; admire the carved... More

I'm sure not many travel all the way to Burgos in Spain, though if it's only to see the cathedral it'll be well the trip. Built in the 13th century and meticulously restored it rivals Notre Dame and Sacre Coeur in terms of beauty, structure, and history on show. Outstanding museum is part of what is a 7€ entry fee.... Burgos is easily the best cathedral in Spain of the 20 or so we've visited. Enormous (28 chapels!), Gothic, intricate, and at almost every point, something to marvel at. We had the audio guide (essential to fully understand the history and stories), and clearly a lot of investment has gone in to restore nearly everywhere to former colour, condition, and... More

This is an enormous series of spaces which defy my powers of description. I would say that the audioguide is hopeless - an instantly forgettable recitation of builders' names for each chapel (and there are lots of them!). Buy a guidebook instead. Otherwise, a wonderful experience.
