Of course the iconic views of Salamanca are the cathedrals, but make certain you allow plenty of time to see every chapel and soak in all the art. Starting in the new cathedral then going into the old is a breathtaking feeling. In an area...More

The old and new cathedral are connected with each other and it can be seen from top of the building. The Old Cathedral is constructed in 12th century but the magnificient structure still worth detailed viewing while travel in Salamanca. Recommended.

The entry fee includes the audio guide, which is available in several languages. It is easy to get around, not overwhelming. If you are a senior citizen, the cost for both the entry and the guide is a mere 4 Euros.

We were in Salamanca for a very short time so we were unable to see the inside of either of the two cathedrals. The outside was stunning in a beautiful old town setting. Definitely worth a visit.

The original 12th c church proved too small as the city grew in importance, so a larger one was added on in the 16th c. Climb the tower and walk along the roof terrace to see how the 2 churches are connected.

In my opinion the best way to see the cathedral is by going up the tower, which gives a fantastic view of Salamanca from outside, connects the old and new cathedrals plus let's you access the walkways high up in the cathedral. Very cool place...More
