El Paraigua is not only a jewel in the midst of the modernism route of Barcelona, nor is it only a regular cocktail lounge. Neither is it only an ideal location for concerts with the most perfect acoustic sounds reflected off the stone arches of the wine cellars, that was once the home to one of the oldest convents in the Barrio Gotico, nor is it only an intimate place with a display of local art exhibitions, an ideal location to hold conferences and events located in the heart of Barcelona. El Paraigua is all of this and much more. An exceptional property, directly behind plaza St.Jaume, open to all those who enjoy a good cocktail, try an extensive choice of tapas and a wide variety of national wines, allowing yourself to become lost within the music in a bar full of charm, character and endless history.

I have been here a couple of times, nice daytime sitting outside in the square, and live music in the night. Food, wine, atmosphere and service is excellent 😜

We were passing by when a waiter approached us and asked if we wanted to listen to a Spanish concert for free. To other people who were passing by he said that they would just have to "drink a beer" and if they didn't like the music they could just leave. Since it sounded tempting and we were looking for... In the basement area, there was live music (very very loud) and a fun atmosphere! Great spot for nightlife without the sleazy clubbing crowd. Loud, but classy and a nice atmosphere for just hanging out and drinking with friends. Lots of chairs, tables, couches, etc--a cozy and intimate setting.

We went there for a drink & had prompt & friendly service. The drinks were the nicest that we had had in Barcelona, so we stayed for another! Just perfection sitting in the square watching the world go by!

One poor waiter to deal with about 10 full tables, the service was what I would call slow... But they were doing their best. The paella which was about 15 euros didn't have much sea food in it at all, mainly rice. It was tasty and I still ate it, of course!

Paella was terrible, small portion that was broiled-stuck to platter, way overpriced and no flavour.

Atmospheric bar tucked away in the Gothic Quarter recommended by our Catalan friend and definitely worth a daytime visit for coffee, liqueur coffee or maybe even a Cava Sangria. The music venue in the cellar looked great too!

Had a fantastic time here last Saturday listening to some fantastic live music. I didn't eat in the restaurant upstairs as I went especially to listen to the music by Barbara Perez trio as I heard they were really good. Yes the certainly were and had the audience up and dancing and asking for more. I don't know what there... More

We just sat for 2 Fanta. The waiter was totally rude, not a single smile, served us without saying a word. We asked for 2 fanta and brought us 2 orange juice full of water.
