The Basilica of the Sagrada Familia is a monumental church devoted to the Holy Family: Jesus, Mary and Joseph. Construction began in 1882, based on plans drawn up by the architect Francisco de Paula del Villar, and Antoni Gaudi was commissioned to continue the project in 1883. The Temple has always been an expiatory church, built only from donations. As Gaudi said: "The Expiatory Church of the Sagrada Familia is made by the people and is mirrored in them. It is a work that is in the hands of God and the will of the people." In 2010, Pope Benedict XVI consecrated the site as a minor basilica.

You need to visit this place when in Barcelona it is truely impressive. You wonder how Cathedrals of this size were built all those years ago!

Really a must see sight. It is out of this world. The church is beyond comprehension and the history and contribution to culture and Christianity is awesome. Goudi's vision is so amazing and the contribution to nature throughout the design is so cool.

Looking forward to returning to Barcelona to see this extraordinary building completed in 2026 - an ambitious deadline for sure.

It was ok - I prefer the Gothic Cathedral if I'm honest. Book early to avoid the queues! A good way to see it is on the hop on hop off bus.

We have been to Barcelona once before and seen only the outside of Sagrada Familia and on this visit we went inside too with our children. The tickets were timed and although it was busy, it never felt too crowded. The audio guide was very...More

A fantastic place. Buy tickets ahead of time. We took a paid tour, and it was actually really informative.

The Sagrada familia is wonderful! The stained glass windows were amazing and the whole church was made in great detail. It is not completely finished yet but the main chapel has been built. I found it quite a waste that no one uses it for...More

I don't like the outside of this monument but the inside it looks fantastic. If you're in Barcelona, you have to visit it.

The at the moment ready Passion and Nativity facades are truly worth seeing. These can be also observed from the outside. The inside is also ready and is really a great sight to behold. Unfortunately the towers were closed when we visited but even from...More

Should be fine. so long it not gonna be very late like 50min-1hr (Unguided tour). As there is no specific duration for you to be inside. Unless your ticket consists of a guided tour. Maybe that will be a problem.
