Casa Mila, popularly known as La Pedrera, is a most unusual building,...

Casa Mila, popularly known as La Pedrera, is a most unusual building, constructed between 1906 and 1912 by the architect Antoni Gaudí (1852–1926) and declared UNESCO World Heritage in 1984. Today it is the headquarters of Fundació Catalunya La Pedrera and houses a cultural centre that is a reference point in Barcelona for the range of activities it organises and the different spaces for exhibitions and other public uses it contains. A visit to La Pedrera, landmark building and container, gives us a better understanding and appreciation of architecture and transports us to the period when Antoni Gaudí lived.

This place is yet another masterpiece of Gaudi. The rooftop is incredible. It alone is worth the entrance price. The curves and details of this house are amazing. Get the audio guide for more information. We bought tickets online for direct entrance. It was well worth it since there was a line outside waiting.

I loved all the Gaudi sites. We were only able to see 2 in our limited time. Of all the attractions in Paris & Barcelona, these were my teenage daughter's favorite [except for maybe the shopping and the croissants.]

This was an amazing place to visit. Go just before sunset for spectacular views across the city under the setting sun. The architecture on the rooftop and in the attic is extraordinary. Hanging chains with mirror below was useful illustration of Gaudi's vision.

I was here with my boyfriend and we really enjoyed it. The visit lasted almost 2 hours. We visited the roof, an appartment there and the attic. We had an english audioguide that was very usefull because we found out a lot of interesting things about Antonio Gaudi. It was a pleasure to admire the intresting shapes that Gaudi imagined... If you are travelling to Barcelona during the summer, check out the summer of jazz concerts. There is jazz on the roof and it really is a spectacular way to enjoy this wonderful Gaudi building.

This place is also called Casa Mila because it was the home of the Mila family. The building is not entirely open to the public. Tourists can only visit the court, the rooftop, the attic, and a few rooms which the Mila family occupied. The rest area is limited to the current tenants. Compared with Palau Guell or Casa Batllo,... More

My wife & decided to take the tour here instead of the Casa Batllo. Mainly because it's empty where as the Pedrera is just the opposite. From the remarkable roof to the decorated apartments it was a wonderful experience. It's a must visit in Barcelone.

La Pedrera is another building designed by Antoni Gaudí who also designed Lasagrada Familia and many other famous places in Barcelona. It was interesting to see it from the top to bottom, and find out about the details and construction methods that were used. Gaudí really was a genius and a dedicated to his master his field, and I would... More

In the hierarchy of Gaudi spots in Barcelona this I would rate third on my list of MUST see. First being La Segrada Familia, next Casa Batllo, then La Pedrera, followed by Park Guell. Don't get me wrong, this spot was pretty amazing! The roof is both fascinating and confusing. Go early in the morning if visiting in the hot... More

Staying in Eixample

Neighbourhood Profile
Eixample
Passing through the glorious Plaça Catalunya, you enter the newer city district of Eixample, literally translated as “extension,” which immediately becomes recognisable by its more spacious streets and elegant atmosphere. The main artery of this sizable district, Passeig de Gracia, is lined with high-end international designer stores. Not to be outdone, the glitz and glamour of this zone is perhaps best exemplified by the comfortable and lavish five-star hotels that flank the divine and modernistic buildings from some of the world’s most recognised architects such as Gaudi and Montaner.
