Enjoyed a brisk stroll around the castle with views of the city and harbor. We had taxi drop us at the top for our visit, but upon departure we decided to walk all the way down to the Columbus monument, great exercise. Also can catch the local #150 bus down the hill.

Whether going up to the castle or just wanting a break from the busyness of the city, this park is a nice getaway to wander and explore. There are many great viewpoints of the city, the harbor and the industrial port area (which is beautiful in its own way).

A trip to Montjuic Castle normally includes a Metro ride, a Funicular ride, and a Cable Car trip. Because the Funicular and Cable cars are currently undergoing annual inspection (till Feb 19) a Metro ride, a bus ride and a 20 minute uphill walk was the recipe today. The Montjuic Castle erected back in 1640 is high above Barcelona and... More

Building itself not something special, but it is a very nice view from the fort. Not too much to do there, but you can see all Barcelona from there.

You can see the whole city of Barcelona from here, its amazing! The castle itself isn't much of a castle and it's a little underwhelming but there are so many great places for pictures here.

A quick walk away from the city centre, or even a metro stop can provide you with great skyline views of Barcelona. The gardens are pleasing to the eye and plenty of benches are available for sitting. Several restaurants are available at the top, but you pay the price for location.

Staying in Montjuic

Neighbourhood Profile
Montjuic
Beyond the four columns standing guard at the Plaça Espanya, beyond even the extravagant and colourful fountains guiding your way up the boulevard, stands the impressive and towering structure of the Palau Nacional, the national museum. At this very spot in front of the cascades of the central fountain, Freddie Mercury and Montserrat Caballe gave the performance of their lifetimes to welcome the 1992 Olympic Games to this magnificent city. And true to its anticipation, the games transformed the city, reimagining the mountain of Montjuic with the development of an arena, stadium, and many other sporting facilities that are open to visitors year-round. Surrounding the adjacent side of the plaza are well-established hotels catering to business guests and a shopping mall transformed out of a historic bullfighting arena.
