Was really annoyed when we actually entered the zoo to find out most of it was shut, yet we were still charged full price. Although there is a big variety it is completely run down so you just end up feeling sorry for the animals. I didn't see any staff cleaning or feeding the animals, there was no dolphins which... Saw some bad reviews but we had a wonderful time. There were several areas under construction to improve the lives of the animals, but we got to see everything we wanted. I would skip the aquarium but everything else was great. Penguin feeding time was our favorite.

Barcelona Zoo offers a welcome difference from UK zoos with their conscious effort to include open plan exhibits for as many animals as possible to an extent where I was genuinely questioning how far I thought a tiger could jump. There is just one exception to this however. They zoo homes Dolphins, which was interesting as it is not a... More

We spent a few ours at this zoo earlier this week and we are so glad we chose to visit. It's a really big zoo so there is so much to see. Disappointed in the aquarium section - nothing really there looks like is being refurbished however no mention of this. There is quite a few sections where there are... More

Our kids love zoos and we really liked going to the one in Barcelona! I gave it only 4 stars because we went to see the Dolphin Show (our friends had seen it on their visit) and it was gone!!! Very disappointed!! But the zoo otherwise was very good!

The best Zoo experience ever. It has very natural decor and animals are left quite free, they are not in cages. There are just distances or walls between us. At times one has interesting viewpoints on animals, but all outdoor and very green, lots of trees and well maintained. A happy zoo I must say. Elephants, giraffe rhino, hippo, monkeys...tiger.... A great zoo with lots of animals from all parts of the world. Sounds silly but it was cool to see animals that Australian zoos don't have. There were a few developments happening when we went which was disappointing but all in all a great experience for a young family. Food is expensive though so bring snacks and book online... More

We went to the zoo and were surprised of how open and free the animals were. The size if the place and the verity of animals was excellent would really recommend going. Only negative is some of the areas were closed due to maintenance.

Having read some TripAdvisor reviews, I wasn't expecting much from this zoo. However my son and I spent several hours wondering around and I was more impressed than I expected to be. I was disappointed that the dolphin facility was closed. I do agree that some of the enclosures could be bigger, but overall it is a good zoo and... More

Staying in Ciutadella / Vila Olimpica

Neighbourhood Profile
Ciutadella / Vila Olimpica
The sounds of Marina Olympica's rocking boats and clicking mastheads swaying to and fro set an impressive backdrop for Ciutadella and Villa Olimpica. Follow the aromas of garlic, wine, and fresh local fish to the various restaurants running along the marina. A grand bronze fish statue soaring high above serves as a beacon to those searching for the renowned Casino Barcelona or the extremely popular nightclubs which practically lie on the beach itself.
