The Tablao de Carmen pays tribute to the great flamenco dancer, Carmen Amaya, born in 1913 in the gypsy quarter of Somorrostro which then existed in what is today Barcelona's Olympic Village. Carmen Amaya made her debut in 1929 before King Alfonso XII on the site which is today the Tablao de Carmen at the inauguration of Poble Espanyol de Montjuic.

We got to see this spectacular show during our stay in Barcelona on our European Contiki trip! This was a ME optional which means you didn't have to pay if you didn't want the dinner and the show, but if you didn't you sure missed out! I was captivated with the passion and the talent these flamenco dancers showed us!... More

The tapas were fantastic followed by a hearty main course. They brought the little ones pasta and chicken with fries just in case, more food than we could eat. The show was amazing with two male and two female dancers. Everything you would hope for from a night out on the town with the family. We stayed and drank Sangria... More

the show that el tablao de carmen put on was amazing a real authentic flamenco show was the icing on the cake for my husbands birthday weekend. the food was a little to buttery for my taste and it was a bit cold. but over all i give it a 7 out of 10.

it's been a few years but the memories last forever from this amazing venue. If you are going for a gourmet meal then this is not the place but if you want good food and the most amazing flamenco show this is the place. it is very small but this adds to the atmosphere. we had a table right by... Unfortunately, after booking the program for Friday night (11/18), I did not receive a confirmation on time. I received an email stating that I had booked and that the confirmation was in progress. With this, I showed up at the event. It was no problem to get inside and seated, but when I inquired about the included dinner I was... More

Very intimate dining experience and show. FOOD - It was exquisite. The menu complimented the atmosphere, and the portions were perfect. At times you won't know what to concentrate on, the taste and texture of the food, or the brilliant dancing in front of your eyes. ATMOSPHERE - Intimate. When we went, there were around 40-55 diners. The space is... More

Since Flamenco is not native to the Barcelona area, there are very few shows. And this show definitely seemed geared for tourists or special events like birthdays. I did not realize it was located inside an "attraction", that being a recreated medieval village. Though not too much was authentic, it was a fun little area and entrance was included in... More

Adequate but not outstanding tapas, but the show was well worth the entire price. We were captivated by the energy of the performers. Not many shops in the area were open when we were there so that was a disappointment. Great sangria.

Me and my husband went to the show in September during our visit in Barcelona. The entire experience was fabulous. We arrived at Poble Espanyol two hours earlier to be able to explore the small village. It is very pleasant place off from the beathen tourist sights so there are no crowds of people. The ticket price is included in... More

Staying in Montjuic

Neighbourhood Profile
Montjuic
Beyond the four columns standing guard at the Plaça Espanya, beyond even the extravagant and colourful fountains guiding your way up the boulevard, stands the impressive and towering structure of the Palau Nacional, the national museum. At this very spot in front of the cascades of the central fountain, Freddie Mercury and Montserrat Caballe gave the performance of their lifetimes to welcome the 1992 Olympic Games to this magnificent city. And true to its anticipation, the games transformed the city, reimagining the mountain of Montjuic with the development of an arena, stadium, and many other sporting facilities that are open to visitors year-round. Surrounding the adjacent side of the plaza are well-established hotels catering to business guests and a shopping mall transformed out of a historic bullfighting arena.
