A little less visited than some other places but well worth a stop. It's clear why locals would want to be married there

This basilica has some beautiful stained glass windows and i personally enjoyed it more than the Barcelona Cathedral. Well worth popping in for a look.

Worth visiting this Basilica. Check out tour times as due to time constraints we had to jump on a Spanish tour. However it wasn't a problem not understanding as we had info from other sources. Great architecture, stained glass and good views from the roof. It is nice to get a break from all the Gaudi and visit something different

We slipped in for a quick visit instead of paying for a tour of the gallery and rooftop. The windows are stunning, and we had fun hunting for nautical touches (ship's wheel carved into the pews, skull and crossbones in the side isle floor). Afterward, I looked at their excellent website available in English. Really, it's a lovely place, but... More

We popped into Santa Maria by chance as we were walking through the area. Completely concealed behind unassuming walls, we were completely taken aback when we stepped inside. It is a beautiful building well worth a look.

I took a short cut through the Basilica of Santa Maria del Mar on the Devour Barcelona food tour. It was beautiful! FC Barcelona I believe donated money to the church. Look for the hidden Barsa crest in the stained glass. Very cool!

On our week stay in Barcelona we lived 30 feet from this church, it was right out our living room window! We went in a few times during our stay but one evening the organist Neil was walking up the stairs to the organ. We had been admiring the organ from the floor as it is up quite high. Neil... More

Staying in El Born / La Ribera

Neighbourhood Profile
El Born / La Ribera
The labyrinth that is El Born becomes most apparent the moment you turn down one of its side streets. But this is one of the few labyrinths you might actually enjoy losing your way in. After all, there are few places that live and breathe such exciting energy regardless of the time of day. This neighbourhood seamlessly transcends the old and new parts of the city, reflected in its vast array of restaurants ranging from fancy Michelin-star establishments to trendy fusion restaurants. Here you'll find historical and cultural attractions such as the popular Picasso Museum and the Gothic cathedral La Santa Maria del Mar, where you just might be able to catch a traditional Catalan wedding.
