Walking through this art deco area of Barcelona is a delight - the buildings and architectural design are fascinating. But - remember to look up!! The roof tops and their decorations are amazing!

We stayed four nights in the Eixample neighborhood in late June. Basic necessities like markets, convenient stores, restaurants, bus and metro stations are all nearby. Some tourist spots are within walking distance. It was so pleasant and convenient that we would definitely come back and...More

A lot of food choices a lot of supermarkets (think Bodegas) and a great market in the Navarro florist area. You have to know it's there or you will miss it! We found many great little Tapa places.

The Eixample District is most extraordinary. First, it’s like you walk on normal city streets, maybe even in your own city, but if you take a closer look you’ll see heartstopping wonders. Most of the houses are decorated. This is the best „eixample” why the...More

A nice and safe neighbourhood for a walk. not too busy and you can feel the life of the normal people in the city, spotted with cafes, ice-cream shops, plazas and small restaurants.

Upscale residential and shopping area. Lots of restaurants and cafes. Beautiful boutiques and shops. Visited with my daughter in June. A little crowded with tourists, but fun and interesting. Many beautiful examples of Gaudi and Beaux Arts architecture.

Passing through the glorious Plaça Catalunya, you
enter the newer city district of Eixample, literally
translated as “extension,” which immediately becomes
recognisable by its more spacious streets and elegant
atmosphere. The main artery of this sizable district,
Passeig de Gracia, is lined with high-end
international designer stores. Not to be outdone, the
glitz and glamour of this zone is perhaps best

I am afraid this district like many in Barcelona is hustle and bustle. Barcelona is a very busy city and not suitable for a beach holiday. May i suggest staying outside of Barcelona. Barcelona sits within the area of Costa... More

About 20 minutes by bus. I didn't walk as it was extremely hot while I was there but I would estimate it would be about a 45 minute walk, this area is not close to the beach.
