A good sandy beach, but far too many people trying to sell you stuff - massages, blankets, drinks...

Great area to sit and watch the world go by, loads of really interesting street art and fab sea food restaurant's, also lots of well known nightclubs and bars in this area should you want a late night out.

Very clean beach, and very popular however despite the amount of people it was still incredibly peaceful and relaxing. Plenty of places to eat and drink around too.

You will see people in the beach no matter the season, good ambiance, sea breeze and lots of restaurants around. If you are not so hungry go on Sunday since it is very popular stroll among locals, but restaurants will be full.

It was nice and sunny on our visit. People were in the water but it was still too cold for our taste. There were a few topless sunbathers which didn't bother us but heads us for families who may have an issue with this.

Came during winter on a weekday afternoon. Not packed at all. It is a nice and quick getaway from the busy Barcelona city. Easy access from the metro. There were a couple of sand artists. Very amazing sculpturing skills and artwork. The vibe in summer must be different.

We were not here in the season, so it's difficult to assess how it is here in the summer? The view is very beautiful, there are many people in February, all breathe fresh sea air and enjoy the seascapes.

My partner and I stopped for twenty minutes or so to rest our feet. You need to visit to take some beautiful pictures. Avoid eye contact with the sellers, the prices are ridiculous. A perfect place to eat your lunch. It was funny seeing people sunbathing in bikinis and then others wrapped up in hats, scarfs and coats.

Very enjoyable, but very busy. Not ideal for children. I would walk further along to the other end where the beach is quieter. The water is not shallow either. It deepens very quickly and is not great for kids to paddle in. But we enjoyed it all the same.

So lived in a tourist apartment near the beach for four months, and I was always pleasantly impressed by the number of activities (biking, scootering, surfing, rollerblading, relaxing) were going on simultaneously without anybody getting unpleasant. And the city of Barcelona does a great job of keeping the area clean. If you're hungry or thirsty, you'll find very good restaurants... More

Staying in Barceloneta

Neighbourhood Profile
Barceloneta
Originally a fisherman’s quarter, this quaint area can’t escape its small village feel: laundry hanging over the narrow streets, old ladies clamoring at each other from their balconies and elder gentlemen playing games on short wooden benches gossiping the day away, Barceloneta could double as a film set. Artists line the boardwalk displaying their magnificently detailed sand structures making this the most visited beach in the city (the shirtless men working out might help too). You’ll know by the delicious aroma that you're in the right place to try some of the best and most authentic seafood including paella, Spain’s national dish.
