If you walk right through the Ciutat Vella/Barric Gotic and find yourself on Passeig de Colon have a walk up the boardwalk towards Barceloneta and the Old Port. It is a lovely change from the dark old streets full of tourists shops and restaurants. Barceloneta is a bit more "local", the dockside restaurants are aimed that those with the huge... More

We visited on a dull, windy day so it was not seen at its best. Lots of big, expensive yachts to look at and restaurants on the land side. Would be great on a sunny day.

Visited 2.6,7,8,9.2017 this is an area with a metro stop near the beaches, the Port where the yachts are docked, the W hotel with its various bars and clubs. Convenient to LaRambla, the LaBoqueria, and various restaurants. the Doctor hit me with a helpful vote!

La Barceloneta is a rather quiet part of Barcelona that kept quite some its traditional charm. With all the big investments around the harbour area, also Barceloneta got an upgrade, but restaurants, the market, the shops still are less touristic and more authentic then in Barrio Gotico. And the walk from the harbour of Barcelona along the shore and around... More

Worth a visit for dinner. Appetizers are large, so be warned. We both tried the salt cod and it was delicious. The menu is extensive and if you insist on meat, it is here. Service is superb. Expensive, but worth it. Would we return? Yes.

Very quaint and fun to visit -also near the beach, which is a very nice place to spend the day. Great restaurants and bakeries too.

A strange mix of everything Barcelona has to offer - old, narrow street (which can be quite smelly in the summer), Paseo Borbón with its touristy paella restaurants, a marina where the super-rich moor their yachts and some equally appealing, reasonably cheap and good quality restaurants and bars - if you're lucky enough to find them. Barceloneta is aso the... More

Staying in Barceloneta

Neighbourhood Profile
Barceloneta
Originally a fisherman’s quarter, this quaint area can’t escape its small village feel: laundry hanging over the narrow streets, old ladies clamoring at each other from their balconies and elder gentlemen playing games on short wooden benches gossiping the day away, Barceloneta could double as a film set. Artists line the boardwalk displaying their magnificently detailed sand structures making this the most visited beach in the city (the shirtless men working out might help too). You’ll know by the delicious aroma that you're in the right place to try some of the best and most authentic seafood including paella, Spain’s national dish.
