A great Central point to visit and a very interesting concept On a hit day...a pleasant coolant and at all times a key meeting point for Catalan life.

Be aware that the fountain and water show is undergoing repairs until the middle of February! Does give you the chance to see the National Art gallery!

There isn't much to see during the day, so I recommend going at night. They have light and sound shows at particular times, check its website. It's worth the time! Also, you will adore the National Palace behind it (amazing architecture) and it is now a Catalonian art museum, see it if you have extra time

The castle is beautiful and the fountain makes it better. I recommend get an hour before the show begins to get be best views of the show.

Truly magical, like nothing else I've seen and an absolute must-see - just amazing that you can go and experience this for free - do not miss out!! All I will say is take care to go along on the right day of the week, as this varies by time of year and was completely different to what a guidebook... More

This is a beautiful example of local and tourist life. Pack some food or get I think there, but defiantly some water or beer for enjoyment. Watch all the local artists and see the fountains at their best. We went at sunset and it was our favorite

Staying in Montjuic

Neighbourhood Profile
Montjuic
Beyond the four columns standing guard at the Plaça Espanya, beyond even the extravagant and colourful fountains guiding your way up the boulevard, stands the impressive and towering structure of the Palau Nacional, the national museum. At this very spot in front of the cascades of the central fountain, Freddie Mercury and Montserrat Caballe gave the performance of their lifetimes to welcome the 1992 Olympic Games to this magnificent city. And true to its anticipation, the games transformed the city, reimagining the mountain of Montjuic with the development of an arena, stadium, and many other sporting facilities that are open to visitors year-round. Surrounding the adjacent side of the plaza are well-established hotels catering to business guests and a shopping mall transformed out of a historic bullfighting arena.
