Much bigger and more interesting than you would expect it to be at first sight. You can easily spend an hour here. Definitely worth it.

Difficult to get a true impression of the circus because the surrounding buildings have encroached so much. There are bits of wall here and there so it's hard to appreciate the scale of the original

Doesn't look like much from the outside, but there is surprisingly quite a lot to do here. Climb up the Praetorium tower to get fantastic panoramic views of the area. Look at the exhibits in the tower and wander the remains of the Circus. Well...More

Exceptional value especially when included in the attractions you can visit on a tourist special ticket. Great views from the tower and it’s mind boggling just how much is still standing after all this time. The Romans sure know how to build! Good displays inside...More

You need to go inside to appreciate the true extent of this complex. You can see quite a lot from the outside but not everything. The tunnels were amazing.

Do not expect to find a Roman circus with their quadrigas. But you will find a wider tunnel which goes below the old grandstands an d one of the circus towers. The archaeological site is even better than the Circus of Rome and gives you...More

Starting at the circus, sadly truncated by more recent over-building, the curators try to make up for the history of disrespect for Roman history with really quite good artists’ impressions and useful explanation. And, given their handicap, succeed. The tour then becomes more impressive with...More
