Disappointing visit vs the last time we were here about 5 years ago. Can only taste the older wines if you buy full glasses. Which we did but then had to leave 5 full glasses of wine since you cant drink 5 glasses then drive... We did not mind paying the money as much as the wastefulness of it. Last time we had the ability to pay for small tastes of old wines . Most importantly wines also young and disappointing vs some of the other bodegas and few older vintages of our preferred roda available. No tasting notes or description in any language. Service also beyond slow. 20 mins to pour 5 glasses of wine despite us being the only guests and 2 staff!! That said, not a disaster. Just disappointed for one of our formerly favorite riojas. Olive oil was the best thing!

You can visit Roda for a standard tasting. But why not indulge yourself and make an advance reservation? Take the expensive option with lunch (€80 p.p.).
What you get is a private tour. Seeing the wine making process, the barrels, the caves and so on. At the end is the BIG surprise, lunch is served when the weather allows, at the end of the cave next to the river. A beautiful tasting inclusive Roda 1. One of the best lunches and tours I've enjoyed.

A very small yet beautiful looking wine tasting experience.
The wines to mention worthy of tasting are SELA , RODA 1 .

There is a nice little cave looking area where they store the wines and have a place to stand and enjoy the wine .

Whilst visiting Haro this Bodega stood out by its virtue of being different. To be able to sample the wines in the original cellar is a different and chilly experience, Not only can I recommend the wies but also the experience

Haro is a gem with amazing wineries and this is one of them. . .it makes a more modern and creative wines and is worth a visit; more of a California winery experience as modern, innovative, and methodical (felt sterile though). . ..but then again the highlight of La Rioja is going to this old wineries steeped in tradition.. . which this one isnt. So you can decide if you want to come here or not. We came here after visit to Heredia Vina Tondonia and these two could not be further apart.... but was really cool to have the juxtaposition of this modern winery and Bodegas Lopez de Heredia Vina Tondonia next door which is an amazing experience .. ..

Last spring we went to La Rioja to do some wine tasting. We've been in Napa Valley three times and here in La Rioja it's a bit different. You usually not just walz in and taste some wine. Most wineries only do tastings/tours by booking and appointments. Many are closed on sundays. So, since we hit exactly a sunday, we had to look and ask around who might offer some tastings.

Luckily we found out that Roda - a winery unknown to us at that time - offers tastings without appointments on sundays. It's located just outside of the lovely town of Haro.

We came in around 11am and were the only ones. We were welcomed very warm by a lovely lady. She explained a lot about the winery and even let us in the cellar, which was great. They do not have a lot of wines, actuallly only three. But they are all very good. Especially the Roda I. impressed us very much. I would rate it much higher than Muga, Baigorri and Marques Riscal. A great wine, full body...balanced tannins. Highly recommended.
Together with the wine we got served a full plate of crackers topped with Roda's own olive oil ... and some sea salt .... for free. That's when we found out that this winery doesn't only produce great wine, but also brilliant olive oil ... They have two different oils, but we really enjoyed the "Dauro".

We very much enjoyed our visit here. Staff was great, took time to explain everything. No rush, no push ... a great experience. Wonderful wine and great olive oil. We enjoy wine from all over the world ... and Roda will be a new addition to our favorites!

Out of 4 Rioja vineyard tours, a tapas crawl in Logrono, and tastings of 20+ wines in the process, I would say Bodegas Roda has the best full-bodied, elegant & silky wines of all. This is evident even in their entry-level wine - Sela, before you move on to Roda, Roda 1, and the best - Cirsion. The latest version of Cirsion is still so young, but its delicious aromas and wonderful complexity would make you want to bring a bottle home. Our host was very patient and knowledgeable throughout the guided tour and the wine tasting lunch was certainly value for money with its wonderful spread. I would come back again. Highly recommended for wine aficionados 👍🏻

We met Víctor Charcan, Sales Director, at winetasting at hotel Britannia, Trondheim, Norway. We wrote him an e-mail and he arranged an interesting and nice tour in the Bodega. Edurne was our guide. We had winetasting (and oiltasting as well). We bought a few bottles of this amazing wine with us home.
We love this area of Spain.
Thank you for interesting tour in the Bodega and all you kindness.

My wife and I planned a trip to Rioja for over a year and and stayed two nights in Haro to visit the various bodegas there. Bodegas Roda was our last stop and we unknowingly saved the best for last. Wanting a memorable experience we opted to book the private tour with lunch which although a bit pricey, seemed to be perfect for our memorable experience. It was much more; it was Magical. We had excellent email responses from Bodegas Roda concerning our booking and deposit, and although described as a private tour we assumed that to mean a small group. No, it was just the two of us. Maddalen, a recent university graduate and new employee, was our guide. You would have thought she had worked there for years. She answered all of our questions with ease and presented an excellent description of Roda’s wine making. The tour was about an hour through the fermentation vats and barrel storage areas which were below ground in enormous caves and tunnels. Now, the magical part: lunch. We walked through a long storage tunnel to an opening leading to an earthen terrace overlooking the Ebro River. The table was set and 4 wines awaited us for a vertical tasting. Soon afterwards the food was presented which consisted of very generous portions of jamón, chorizo, cheese, and a tortilla España. We also tried their very own two flavors of olive oil which were excellent.. We were left alone for about 1 1/2 hours to enjoy the wine, food, and serenity of the place at our leisure. In the end we bought some Roda I and olive oil with which to remember this once in a lifetime experience.
Maddalen also provided the name of the importer at home with whom we hope to acquire more Roda wine, and she also gave us recommendations for pinxto bars in San Sebastián, our next destination. Thank you, Maddalen! Do not hesitate to spend the money for this tour and tasting if you want a truly magical experience!
