Quiet, relaxed park in the heart of Madrid, a great place to walk before or after a meal. You'll see many natives of Madrid walking with friends, their dogs, and enjoying life. Easy access to numerous restaurants. A lovely place to breathe.

There are many 'secret' pathways if you want to skip the crowds and just sit in a bench and ponder life :-) i prefer retiro during the weekdays and in the morning hours when there aren't too many people as weekends can get pretty... Nice place in a middle of a city. If the weather is nice and warm, makes it even better. Good quiet place to walk around and relax. Few good places to have a meal. Watch out for people selling counterfeit goods. But police presence was there and well felt. So, we felt safe.

There is always strret entertainment which adds to the overall atmosphere of the park. The park is very clean with beautiful flowergardens and very... More

It's a nice walk through with a lovely little lake you can row on. I would imagine it's a lot better in spring than winter.

Park was spectacular. Beautifully presented and well maintained. Highlights were the Crystal Palace, Alfonso X11 monument and lake, Velazquez Palace. Coffee shops next to lake.

Its a nice place for walking during the week. Take a stroll around the lake and rent a boat like many young couples used to do 50 years ago. On sundays it's so crowded, that you hardly can walk.
