It's a very nice walking tour with lots of history. The tour is around 2.5 walking tours with some stairs. Our tour guide is Very informative and told us the history of Madrid. There is a stop in a cafe where restroom is available and you can get drinks as well. It's a very good walking tour overall.

Really good experience, I would definitely recommend. Special shoutout to my tour guide Fabrizio who has the best story telling skills.. never has history been so fun. He also gave me great restaurant recommendations, as we all know food is the most important part of any trip :D

Amazing walking tour. Loads of info, covered all the main sights and fun too. Joaquin, our tour guide, really brought Madrid to life. Recommended some great things to do and places to visit during our tour as well. If you're visiting Madrid this tour is a must!

We had a great time on this free walking tour today and learnt lots of interesting facts about Madrid and it's history! Enrique was an entertaining, clear and informative tour guide! I would definitely recommend this service for others who are visiting Madrid for the first time!

We had a great tour with Javon. Very entertaining and a great start to our time in Madrid. Also got some excellent recommendations for what to eat, see and do. Would definitely recommend.

On the positive side, Joaquin was a knowledgeable guide about the history of Spain and Madrid. He was engaging and spoke English flawlessly. His interactive role play about the history of the Spanish monarchy was well-planned and entertaining. He answered my questions about locations and other touring options without hesitation. The drawbacks: he gave the impression that he was trying... More

I enjoyed the free walking tour in Madrid so I joined the majestic Madrid tour in the afternoon with the same tour guide, Joaquin. He explained some Spanish history with role playing, which made it more interesting and easier to remember. We went to many important buildings around Madrid, including the royal palace, the three fountains, puerta de alaca, parque... More

Visited Madrid for second time and used Sandemans service. Guide Enrique was awesome and told us about Madrid from funny side. The short history course was attractive and easy to understand for every foreigner. Becoming and acting as Philippe 1 the awesome was the most fun part of guided tour.

Ho fatto sia il free walking tour con Mari, che il Majestic tour con Enrique. Entrambe le guide sono state perfette e il tempo è passato velocemente. Mi sono divertita e consiglio entrambe le esperienze caldamente. I did both the free walking tour with Mari and the Majestic tour with Enrique. Both the guides were amazing and time run so... More

Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
