Probably easier to get off at Legazpi Metro station and walk across the river bridge to get here. There's a large neon sign on the roof. Functional, unfussy hotel, plenty of amenities nearby.

The Manzanares river was renaturalized by opening the dams and taking the traffic underground, which provides a really nice and welcomed park in the middle of the city. For bird lovers, it is a good place to see local birds

Don’t doubt it. It’s absolutely worth it. A walk from Plaza de España to Principe Pio, and to step in to the riversides is really nice. You can have a drink in some of the many terraces you find along the river, which ultimately has...More

Assuming you will be staying around downtown, the best option is metro Piramides (Line 5). Go out of the metro station, cross the street and you will be at Madrid Río. Hope you have a great time in beautiful Madrid!

If you walk from the Calderón to the Matadero (Legazpi), I would say the cafe and sunbathing area is just over half way on the north bank.
