Perfect for a picnic, some relaxing time away from the crowds. The mall nearby makes it very convenient to grab some picnic essentials and enjoy the day in the park. Impressively big but well maintained and free to enter.

Yesterday I just visited the Temple again while doing a family photo session for a family from NYC. Even though the area was full of people it still had a relaxing atmosphere, everyone was polite and on the right-hand side, there is a children's play...More

The river looks so small because the water level is at a bare minimum when we went in June. The pictures of the bridges and the walkway and garden are beautiful but it was little disappointing to see barely any water running through river

What a wonderful, beautiful, cultural change Madrid has made to the banks of the shallow Manzanares River! Leave the crowds of Madrid Centro and take a relaxing and enjoyable walk along the river, stopping at snack/bathroom rest spots, a beautiful mall with an amazing observation...More

Had a lovely day in the sprinkler park! There are bathrooms and concessions right there just past the last splash pad. The kids had a great time and the adults could relax

Exceptionally clean area with plenty of locals around, which is always a good sign. Lovely scenery, especially in summer

Most beautiful things are the bridges or Madrid river. A different stilles of architectural design from old to modern glass and metal structure.

I loved going around the river by Segway. Its very calm and there is a lovely park as well. While I was there the Spanish Military had an exhibition too.

Assuming you will be staying around downtown, the best option is metro Piramides (Line 5). Go out of the metro station, cross the street and you will be at Madrid Río. Hope you have a great time in beautiful Madrid!

If you walk from the Calderón to the Matadero (Legazpi), I would say the cafe and sunbathing area is just over half way on the north bank.
