We went especially to see this museum. They wouldn’t let us in because the museum is part of the university and you need a spanish ID (we are not) to get in or your Passport (we didn’t have it) and they wouldn’t take any other...More

We visited the Museo Geominero this week. On the ground floor, there is very large and very good display of trilobites in cases against one wall. We are not sure whether the cases are normally lit, but when we visited, they were not, which meant...More

We decided to go to this museum but remember your picture ID, its free to get in and the whole collection of fossils and gems are housed in a fantastic old building which in itself is worth the visit.

The building alone is worth taking time out to see this hidden gem (pun intended). From the amazing glass windows and ceiling, to the creeky (I'm assuming original) floors, the building speaks true history. There wasn't a cabinet that I didn't find something to think...More

In a off the beaten quarter of Madrid the museum resides in a grand building with beautiful stain glass windows. The collection is grand. So many stones and minerals are on display in the most beautiful way. Too bad they have no English explanations

Me, my wife, and our three kids (6, 10, 13) visited last Saturday. We liked it. First, it was free for us (not sure if it is for everyone). Lots of stuff in Spanish, so if you don't know Spanish you'll be limited to come...More

My youngest wanted to go here and glad we went. Multiple levels to explore. Everything is in Spanish so it took us a little longer to read things, but even if you don't read things you can enjoy the exhibit. Many things to explore from...More

The building is an interesting one which was set up with galleries for exhibits and a large open area with many cabinets clearly showing the specimens. The fossils are organised chronologically with clear information on the time periods. I studied geology 50 years ago and...More

Multi-story residential buildings decorated with
ornate balconies line the traditional, quiet, and
pretty streets of Chamberí. Humble storefronts and

cluster of tables on the sidewalk. It isn't ever
crowded, but people are always out, poking into the
tiny bakeries, hardware stores, and tobacco shops, or
