Cibeles is the MOST beautiful monument in all of Madrid in our opinion. We loved walking this area, taking pictures of monument and fountain across street - just stunning. Yes it is busy but expected for such large city. Definitely a must see for 1st visit to Madrid. Even more beautiful at night with lights.

This glorious building is placed next to a very busy roundabout, making picture taking an adventure all of its own. It is quite a site to see. I wish we had gone back at night to see it lit up.

Plaza de Cibeles is a very attractive, but busy, place. The central feature is the grand Cibeles Fountain, but the plaza is also flanked by the fabulously ornate Banco de Espana building. The plaza is where city celebrations commonly are held.

Madrid is a busy, active city of tourists and locals alike. Impressive buildings like the Royal Palace, the cathedral, Monuments, Plaza's and food. The Mercado San Miguel is the place to grab a light lunch or dinner with drinks aplenty, it was always packed to the rafters. The Churro's and thick chocolate are a must, available everywhere.

The Plaza de Cibeles is the most beautiful plaza in Madrid. Directly in the center is the beautiful Cibeles fountain. Also in the plaza is the beautiful Palacio de Cibeles, one of the most beautiful buildings in Madrid. I highly recommend you check it out, it makes for some good photos.

My wife and I arrived at Plaza de Cibeles when we came into Madrid on the Airport Express bus. It is a beautiful plaza with the Cit Hall in the background. Our Airbnb was only three blocks away from the plaza.

Quite busy traffic but sidewalks are broad and effective pedestrian crosswalks which are well respected by drivers. The buildings are majestic, especially the old national post office headquarters. ( the large ornate white building)

Attractive open space when not filledwith traffic where the Calle Alcala crosses the Paseo de Castellaneo. Several attractive buildings and an impressive fountain in the middle with a Celtic like figure i a chariot. You may be pushed tlo get a decent photo of the fountain.

A very busy area of cars and people surrounded by wonderful architecture. We really wanted to see the fountain in the center and you get great views from a distance. There is really no safe way to get there that we could find. Reminded us of the Arc de Triomphe in Paris without the tunnel to actually get there. It really does not matter though since the view from every angle was great. Enjoy.
